Wednesday 9th April
A day of rest. Nothing really planned for the day. We just spent some of the morning planning the next part of the trip and trying to work out where we might be at Easter. Not an easy task, and so far everywhere we have looked the accommodation is expensive.
Rob woke up with a very sore back (all the standing in Barcelona yesterday) so we organised for the chiropractor to come and visit him at the hotel in the afternoon. After a morning ‘at home’ we went into the town to check out the patchwork shop – yes this little out of the way place has one – and found out that they had a sit and sew that afternoon. Yes – I’ll be back later.
We went and looked at the local church which is perched right at the top of the hill. The resistance fighters hid in caves under the church during the Spanish civil war. Amazing views again of the area.
I went to the sit and sew with my sewing and one lady there
spoke reasonable English so she was able to help me get involved. The shop is
very small with very little stock but the owner has opened it to run groups to
bring patchwork to the area. She helps them all with whatever they are working on.
It was her birthday so we had champagne and cake – a good day to visit! But I
did manage to find out where there was another shop to visit – tomorrow.

Finding somewhere to eat dinner is proving to be a challenge
here. There appears to be a few restaurants in town but none of them are open –
they must only cater to the skiers. There are a lot of small towns nearby and
most of them appear to be almost deserted and buildings shuttered. We spent a
bit of time driving around and found only one place that seemed to have what we
wanted. The meals have been OK but I feel like I need a good feed of vegies –
if you are lucky you get some chips but unless you order a salad as well, there
are no vegies.
Champagne at sit and sew - I haven't had that in Melbourne!
