A misty Mont

Thursday 24th April

Le Mont St Michel

David had told us last night that this was very commercial and it sure was. As we approached the town you could see the Mont looming through the haze. You can’t drive your car right to the town but need to park a few K away and they run courtesy shuttle buses. There were literally thousands of cars and more than that in people as tour buses rolled up one after the other.

Le Mont St Michel as you step off the courtesy bus.

Looking up from the beach.

No problems getting a bus to the village, but the crush of people there in the main walkway up to the abbey was very unpleasant. We tried to get away from the crowd but it just wasn’t possible. It’s not even summer yet, or a weekend, happy we are out of season!

The crush of people made it almost impossible to move.

Away from the crowds.

Another attraction the dog can tick off his bucket list.

We did a quick tour of the village and then headed back by bus to get lunch somewhere less crowded. We took a short drive along the beach and stopped for a short walk where we saw this couple having their wedding photos done.
Wedding photos.

Tonight we are at a farmstay B&B – I thought I had good directions this time but it still took a few wrong turns to find it. Our hostess tonight doesn’t speak much English so I really have to dig deep into the memory banks to make conversation.

A misty sunset on the way home from dinner in Ducey.
