Tuesday 1st July
Our penultimate day in France. Nothing to report for the day, just a long travel day in the heat (though not as bad as we thought it would be). We stopped early along the way to do the washing before it was too hot to hang around waiting.
Lots of farm machinery on the roads - perfect weather for harvesting. Spent 10k at 20kph behind one huge harvester.
Lunch along the way at what we would call at home a home maker centre. Rob had his final moules and frites - I tried a couple of his moules and these ones were very nice.
Arrived at our hotel about 10k out from the airport. You don't get a lot of information about the surrounding area, but on the way in to the gate at this hotel there is a large homeless camp - people just lazing around on the grass, rubbish everywhere, mostly migrants we think, pretty sad to see really.
Was great to open our hotel room door and hear the air-conditioning going flat out. Such a different nights sleep to the previous few nights. Blankets!!
Wednesday 2nd July
Tonight we say goodbye to France. We don't leave the hotel til 12, then wash the car, have lunch, drop off the car and go to the airport and wait. Our flight isn't until 10, then we overnight in Singapore and get back to Cairns 5pm Friday night.
So, farewell France. Til next time.
A sad farewell, safe journey xxKD
