Loving Grenoble

Friday 6th June

Today was a quiet rest day just wandering around Grenoble. I like this city. It has a great public transport system which is what I think contributes to a lot less traffic on the roads. The main roads are nice and wide and well signed. Lots of people walking the streets and there is seemingly no competition between cars and pedestrians. When you get off the main roads the streets are much more narrow and a lot of one way streets. You need to be on your toes to get around by car in the burbs - thankyou Dora, she does most of that for us.

A slow start to the morning - sleep in and late breakfast. The plan was to go into the city and check out some more of the street art.

The artist was still working on this one. Beautiful.

Shame some of them get ruined with graffiti.

This one was in the laneway next to the police station.

Found this one in our neighbourhood as we walked to the laverie this afternoon.

Sitting on the terrasse of a Cafe opposite the laverie,
and enjoying an icecream, this was our view to the east.

We've made good use of the trams here, often hopping on a tram for just one stop (though some of the stops are a bit of a distance apart). We've bought daily tickets that need to be validated each time you get on a tram. We'd been having trouble knowing if they'd been validated, then a lady today........

The validation machine.....

Front and back of the ticket. So, which way down would you put your ticket?
You're probably wrong, just like we were.
A kind lady showed us to place it coloured side down,
and voila,  the reader beeped. Very French!
