A day in the country - canola and wheat

Today was just a day to explore a bit of the area around Sens. We headed to a village labelled one of the most beautiful villages in France - Yevre le Chatel. This village was really tiny - it was shown as having a market today - one man with just some local produce. It was a nice village but not noteworthy. But it did have nice clean toilets.

The entrance to the old village.

This gate was very unusual.

It's tulip season

Rob made friends - it purred very happily.

We moved on to Pithiviers to hopefully find lunch. All of the streets in the centre of town were blocked off due to a festival. We walked the length of the festival but nothing jumped out at us for lunch, so moving on again. Getting out of town was a challenge - Dora struggled to find a route that didn't have us trying to get back through the centre of town. We did eventually escape.

Next town Montargis where we found a lovely place for lunch. Dessert - Yum! The restaurant was next to the local theatre complex and also alongside the canal. We had a quick look at the boats on the canal and talked that it would be nice to go on one of the canal boats (like a moving hotel). I looked it up when we got back to the hotel - only USD$7000 per person for a week. Not this time!

A loop then back to the hotel,  passing through a lovely medieval town called Chateau Renard. It had an old castle but it was getting late in the day so we didn't visit.

Pretty street.

Love this one. Not a straight beam in sight but still standing after 100s of years.

Dinner tonight at a crepe restaurant in town. Dessert again - crepe Suzette - because we are in France.

So, what's newsworthy in France today? Talk about the cost of hospital parking. Sound familiar?
